RAISING PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS SINCE 2007
Cruisin' For A Cure Canada is a car show with a goal to raise awareness about prostate cancer, which is as serious for men as breast cancer is for women.
Yet, OHIP STILL forces most men in Ontario to pay for their PSA blood tests except:
(a) at the discretion of their family doctor or
(b) once they have already been diagnosed with prostate cancer!
This year, Cruisin' for a Cure Canada will provide PSA tests to the first 200 men 40 years of age or older who register for a test at https://redcap.link/psaprotect (You must register by Noon on Friday, September 6th to be tested.) (Sadly, the cost of operating an onsite clinic has roughly doubled since 2019 and a College of Physicians and Surgeons regulation means that PSA tests must be requisitioned by each man's doctor.)
This simple test is not perfect, but it is a vital first step in the process of detecting Prostate Cancer. Learn more about the PSA test here.
